Text in report: It's a Knockout fan Ron 'Tiny' Miles wants a St Albans team to enter the BBC TV competition and has started organising a team himself.

Ron, of Colney Heath Lane, St Albans, doesn't think his city should be left out when both Watford and Luton are having a go.

"We need only three girls now - we've got eight men and five girls - and then we're ready to go."

It's too late for a St Albans team to enter this year's competition but 23-year-old Ron wants them to start practising for next year.

St Albans mayor, Councillor Ivor Parry, said he thought the show good entertainment but would not go so far as to say the council would consider Ron's idea favourably.

"I do not want to commit them but anything of this sort that introduces a competitive spirit is good as long as you ignore the commercial side. I would think it is good for the district."
